Your calorie app never asked how your day went

Here is something funny about the two calorie apps everyone compares.

In March 2026 MyFitnessPal bought Cal AI. So when you read "MyFitnessPal vs Cal AI", you are reading about two products from the same company. One is a database you search. The other is a camera that guesses. Different tricks, same job: count the food.

Counting is fine. I am not here to tell you counting is useless. But counting is the easy part.

Here is what no food diary does, as far as I have ever seen:

  • It does not notice you went quiet for four days.
  • It does not ask what happened.
  • It does not remember that you told it you wanted to stop eating at midnight.
  • It does not say "okay, that was a rough week, here is your next meal."

A diary records. It never sits across the table from you.

That is the gap I built LastCall for.

You tell Scully what you ate in plain words, "double espresso and a protein bar", or you send a photo. Scully makes an estimate, you confirm it, and only then does it go on the record. That confirm step is on purpose. An estimate is a guess, and nothing gets saved as fact until you say it is right.

Then Scully talks to you about it. What you ate this week, how it lines up with what you said you wanted, what to do at the next meal. Scully remembers what matters, not everything, and never says something was logged unless it was.

Is that better than a giant food database? Depends what you need. If you want to weigh your spinach to the gram, use a database.

If your problem is week three, when life gets in the way and you disappear, you do not need more numbers. You need something that is still there when you come back.

You can use LastCall or not. I care that you find something that does not let you quietly quit. Try LastCall.
